How to retrieve a hidden file

From "Help and Support" on the Start Menu:
a.. To view hidden files, on the Tools menu in any folder window, click
Folder Options. On the View tab, under Advanced settings, select Show hidden
files and folders.
 
How do you retrieve a file that you have made hidden

From a misplaced post probably intended for this:

"if in windows go to windows explorer".

"tools on the menu and folder options then move to view
and enable show hidden and system files."


"that should do it."
