I need to be able to restore windows 2000 server to a certain point-in-time
copy. When I restore using ntbackup (both files and system state), it leaves
registry entries and services that were created since the point in time copy.

I want to have the server look like it did on the day of the backup.

Do you have any ideas or links on how to do this?

Yes reinstall the operating system. If you think about it you might conclude it is not possible.
Windows 2000 does NOT have a System Restore like Windows ME (which was a joke) and
Windows XP (less a joke) or Windows 2003 (?).

Windows 2000 does not have that. It has last know good configuration but that is date unknown. It is
atcually the last time you booted successfully which I am assuming that is not the Restore point
you want. Other than that there is nothing. NT backup is a waste of time.
