WinXP Home Edition SP2
In a backwards kind of logic, Disk Cleanup deletes categories of files which
are not checked, instead of those which are checked. As a result, I
unintentionally deleted WIndows Components which are not used often, but
which I wanted to keep. The problem is that WinXP was loaded onto my computer
by the computer manufacturer, and I don't have a WinXP disk to restore
individual programs. I don't even know yet how many were deleted.
I've tried restoring missing files to the Windows folders from a backup, but
that doesn't seem to work. Some files, such as write.exe, for example, no
longer run, and I assume that they might need either some kind of parameter
input or another file.
Can anyone suggest how to handle this problem?
