How to restore lost winXP components deleted by disk cleanup

WinXP Home Edition SP2

In a backwards kind of logic, Disk Cleanup deletes categories of files which
are not checked, instead of those which are checked. As a result, I
unintentionally deleted WIndows Components which are not used often, but
which I wanted to keep. The problem is that WinXP was loaded onto my computer
by the computer manufacturer, and I don't have a WinXP disk to restore
individual programs. I don't even know yet how many were deleted.

I've tried restoring missing files to the Windows folders from a backup, but
that doesn't seem to work. Some files, such as write.exe, for example, no
longer run, and I assume that they might need either some kind of parameter
input or another file.

Can anyone suggest how to handle this problem?

Start - run - copy/paste: appwiz.cpl (press enter)

the add and remove programs windows will open go to Add/remove windows
components. The windows components wizard is going to open, select what you
need here, if you clic details you see what are you going to get...go
according the instructions

Generally computers of this sort have a separate partition on the hard drive
that contains the restoration information needed to fix the system.

If not, you can generally contact the manufacturer of the system and receive
a set of restore CD/DVD's for a nominal charge.
