Hello Mike,
Please search for the *.pst file with the following steps
File : *.pst
Location : my computer
more advanced options >search for hidden files and folders.

Please follow the article > 287070 to import the old profile data .
Hope this will resolve the issue.

That article doesn't help me retrieve deleted files that should still be on
my computer. Is this possible?

Thanks for the link. Somehow I was able to reconfigure the profile &
retrieve the emails, though not quite by any of the methods suggested.

I was trying to restore an Outlook send button that disappeared, and
stupidly clicked on the "restore defaults in Microsoft Office" and
lost my user profile, with it's priceless address book and archived e-
mail. I appear to still have 500000 k in both the archive and profile
as .dat files, so think it's still viable. On the new empty Outlook
profile, though my address book is gone, the auto fill-in still works
in the to file. But there is still no send button.

Questions:

1. Mike, how did you restore your profile?

2. How does one get the send button to "come back" to Outlook.

(I was told to
Exit Outlook 2003..
Delete the following file:
C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
\outcmd.dat
But do not have a user name any more so this didn't work. )

3. How can one save the "auto fill in" e-mail addresses to an address
book--or anyplace--if you don't know all the names? I'm don't want to
risk losing this one small piece of vital history.

Control Panel's Mail applet should give you access to the old profile. Even
if not, your data is not lost. Use the Mail applet to add your old data
file to the current profile.

You MUST have a username. Windows won't operate without one, even if you
may not need to enter it. Open Windows Explorer and enter this in the
Address field:

%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook

then click Go.

There are tools available (both commercial and free) that can aid you in
adding the autocompletion cache data to your Contacts folder, but you
shouldn't need to if you use your original profile or add your data file
back to the current profile and rename the NK2 file to match your existing
profile name. See this for an explanation of the autocompletion feature:
