How to replace msvcrt.dll?

Hi George

I have found a way to replace that dll. After I did that, the machine will just keep rebooting without any memory dump. I have replaced the dll back to its original one using Recovery Console since none of the mode will able to boot up the machine and enable the WFP

BTW, I believe I have tried to replace both dllcache and servicepackfiles\i386 files. For the system32 copy, it cannot be replaced by just copying since the file is used by many windows exe such as winlogon.exe and services.exe. I have obtained a tool to replace that dll

Thank you

Pete

Well that is good you couldn't replace it then wasn't it? One thing you need to be aware of when replacing system files especially of this calibur. They depend intimately on other system files and their version. This is why you got dumps. Maybe you didn't get a memory dump but that's what it was.

I do this what I told you from another operating system so I don't have the issues of files in use. But I would never even try it with msvcrt.dll. Use depends on that file and you will see all the files that it depends on. I have been successful with this using ocx and some dlls.

But the major question here is "Why do you want to do this? What are you expecting?"
