How to rename a "mapped user account"

P

Pradeep

Netters,

For our Windows 2003 AD, all the user accounts except one are mapped to
"domainname.com/users/FirstName LastName." However, one user is mapped
to "domainname.com/users/FirstName." Notice the LastName part is
missing. I would like to rename this mapping to be consistent with
others. Can someone please tell me how I can achieve this?

You can see the mapping for a user from "AD Users and Computers"
snapin. Right click on a user and select "Name Mappings."

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

That is actually the value of the canonicalName attribute, but it is
constructed from the cn attribute (Common Name) and the parent container
location in AD. You want to modify the cn attribute, which requires that you
rename the object. In ADUC, right click and select "Rename". You cannot do
this my modifing First Name, Last Name, or Display Name.
