How to remove the domain in the Domain and Trust?

Dear All,

I have 2 domain controllers(Domain:VXCN).Then another
trusted domain(VXAS) joined the forest.However, of some
accidents, the server FILSRV (installed with domain VXAS)
crashed and can not recover any more.

When I tried to re-format and promot the server FILSRV to
a trusted domain VXAS in the forest again, the system
always reported error,say "The name 'VXAS' is already in
use on this network, Type a name that is not in use".
However, i really need to use this Domain name 'VXAS'.

Also i can not recover the forest set from backup ,due to
the backup problem.

Therefore is it possible to remove the old domain
information (VXAS) in the forest to make the domain VXAS
promotion successfully??
