Not Hiding, Removing.

I don't think you can and I don't think you should. It is there
for an excellent purpose. If it's no longer there then it becomes
much harder to remove hardware safely.

Unplug everything from the USB ports.

You can't remove it. All you can do is always hide it.

Right click the Taskbar | Properties | Taskbar tab | Customize button |
Find the Safely Remove Hardware icon | Select Always hide | OK | Apply | OK
