How to remove certain marks on the page

Hi,
Since a few days I'm getting some kind of 'crop marks' in word 2003 in page
layout view. The are located at the four corners of the printable area of the
page and look like _| |_ (at the top) and the 'flipped' version of
those at the bottom.
(Does this make sense; get what I mean?)
Sometimes you see markers like that on printouts used for 'proof-printing'.
I have no clue how I managed to get them there ('cause it is very likely
some option I mistakenly checked).
How do I get rid of them?

TIA for your suggestions/solution.

You enabled Asian Language Support. If you want to type in Chinese/
Japanese/Korean, you're stuck with them.

What's wrong with having them there?

Speculation is that it happens when you allow IE or Windows to install
support for languages automatically. I have this Internet Option disabled
and strenuously resist, but many people may be seduced by the claim that
"you need to install suppport for [x language] in order to view this page
correctly" (which is very often untrue, and even if it is, I don't want to
install that support).
