Hi

I accidentally added a picture as background picture on Desktop.
Picture was named as wallpaper.
From display Properties I cannot delete this picture.
It is not a bad picure, my flower garden picture.
I can leave as is, but want to know how I can remove this.

TIA

Hi,

The pictures that show up under display properties, desktop are located in
these folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Pictures
C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes

TweakUI for XP: Unchecking "Lock Web Content" under Explorer to be added
to desktop disables the pictures from being listed.

Workarounds:

Create another folder (under your user profile), remove the pictures from My
Pictures that you don't want listed under Backgrounds and in the My Pictures
folder, create a shortcut to the new folder. Or create subfolders within My
Pictures.

Add Folders to the "Save As" Dialog (Places Bar) Line 117
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Disable Default Save As to My Pictures (Line 263)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Add Folder to Start Menu to replace/re-route My Pictures (Line 2)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Display>Desktop Tab. I'm not sure that you
sa==can *delete* it, but you can change it to anything in the list there.

This is terrible - I find the easiest way to change your background picture is to right your mouse anywhere on your desk to
picture - click to properties - click to desktop - Pick whatever - or browse whatever picture you want

Thank you for quick reply.
I learnt a lot.
It took me one hour to figure it out.
Original picture was JPG, but somehow it was changed BMP.
It was under windows directry as wallpaper.bmp

Thanks again, Ramesh, Kelly and Bruce.
You guys are great!

Hi Tommy,

The OP wants to remove the particular picture from that list, and not just
change the desktop wallpaper.
