I want to permanently replace my login screen (the screen where the user have
to enter thier login name and password and NOT the boot screen !).

For that I have to setup/change the file logonui.exe in the directory
C:\WINDOWS\system32.

I already have a replacement for it.

Yes, I know this file cannot be changed in a running WinXP session.

So I started the recovery console and replaced there the file with the new
logonui.exe.

but unfortunately this file is automatically switched back to the default
logonui.exe.

Why ?

How can I otherwise replace the old logonui.exe ?

You certainly know that replacing this system file may render your
system useless.

Replace that file in these folders first if present:

- %windir%\System32\dllcache
- %windir%\ServicePackFiles\i386
