I want to have half a line space between different levels of a numbered
outline. I want lines that are at the same level not to have any space.
1. here
2. same
(half line)
A. level 2
B. level 2
(half line)
I. level 3
II. level 3
III. level 3
etc...

I would like to create a style with this sort of spacing.

Add 6 points Space After and, in Format Paragraph for the style definition,
check the box for "Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style."

this doesn't seem to work for me. all it does is add a space after the
entire list is done. It doesn't add spaces in between individual sections of
the same list style.

You said you didn't want space between items at the same level.

yes, but I use a single outline with levels. I want the spaces to be between
different levels, but within the same style. It is with an outline list
style.

Are you saying the easiest way to do this is to use different styles for
different levels? I see how that could work, though it would be a little
less convenient than having one outline numbered style.

So I need to have a different style associated with each level. That was the
part that I was missing.

Thanks,

Paul O

Yes, even with "list styles," it helps to have a separate style for each
level.
