How to programmatically check names?

I have a script behind a custom task form that maps custom fields from
custom contact fields when a contact is dragged/dropped into the task
folder. All the fields are mapping fine as long as the user hits the "Check
Names" button before saving. However, an "Operation Failed" error occurs if
the user simply hits "Save". How can I automatically "Check Names" on
Item_Open()?
