how to prevent deleting history

Does anyone know how I can lock IE's setting to prevent deleting history?
Do there is a registry key to lock the history folder or a way to duplicate
the history in an hidden folder?

Hi curzio :)

IE not keeping my History:

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Content tab>Autocomplete button
Select any of the boxes you want Autocomplete to keep for you.

also.....

If you have McAfee AV, turn off the ActiveX part of the Internet Filter
If you have McAfee AV running:

McAfee gave this solution to the bug where VirusScan 6 stops your Internet
Explorer History file working. Hope it is of some help:

Open VirusScan console
Select "Pick a task..."
Select "Change my VirusScan settings"
Select "Configure VShield background scanning"
Select "Customise your VShield settings"

Select the "Internet Filter" icon from the icons down the left hand side On
the "Detection" tab, in the 'Applet filters' section, remove the tick next
to "ActiveX Controls".

or..............

Run regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software|Microsoft|Internet Explorer|Main

and insure that Save_Session_History_On_Exit is marked YES and not NO. (I
just checked mine, and it is set to NO by default).

Also try..:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software|Microsoft|Internet Explorer|TypedURLs

or.............

It could be that the History folder has become damaged or corrupted, try
deleting the folder, then reboot and a new one will be created.

It's also possible that 3rd party software, such as spyware or malware, is
causing the problem. Work through the information here:

Hi curzio :)

Sorry if I mis-understood your post. If you wish to prevent the History
from being deleted by others,

Download and install SpyBot Seach and Destroy; (update as well)
SpyBot S &D
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html
Go to Start>Programs>SpyBot S&S (advanced mode)>Immunise>
Check the 3 items at the bottom. This will disable the IE Tools>Internet
Options feature (you
will be able to disable it if you need to),

or...

[or]

You could add a Registry restriction that would disable that function.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control
Panel]
"History"=dword:00000001

Note: to affect *all* users add the below:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control
Panel]
"History"=dword:00000001

Value Data: (0 = disable restriction, 1 = enable restriction)
Note: always Export before editing. Close Regedit and reboot.

Hope this helps

Be aware, however, that the SpyBit setting blocks the Internet Options
function from within IE but NOT from the Control Panel -- the method
someone who wishes to erase tracks would most likely use.

Thank you for the additional information. :)
