Hello!
I replaced Chaintech 6btm motherboard, P3-750 CPU and ATI All-in-wonder 128
with Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard, Intel E6750 CPU and Gigabyte HD2600Pro.
This caused my computer going to suspend mode during upload and download in
E-mule and/or a driver search, thus interrupting the activities. How to
prevent a computer from going to suspend mode during upload and download in
E-mule?
Asus and Gigabyte technical support suggestions did not help.
I need, though, my computer to go to the suspend mode as soon as possible
after an upload or download completion or internet connection loss, as
Chaintech 6btm motherboard did.
Best regards,
Dima

Are you sure the activities are interrupted? Is it truly going into suspend
or is the monitor only
shutting down? Did you verify?

Yes, I'm sure the activities are interrupted. It is truly going into suspend,
the case power button begins to blink. The system asks for the password when
coming out from Suspend.

You need to go into BIOS and check the settings there. If you are using an
APM system (advanced power management) set the BIOS inactivity thresholds to
their highest values or disable them entirely. For info on adjusting BIOS
power management settings consult the manual that came with your computer..

Choose setting S3 in your BIOS . (power tab)

Thanks Unknown for replying!
"Repost Video on S3 Resume" was and is enabled. There is nothing else with
S3 in the power tab in American Megatrends BIOS setup utility v02.58.
There is nothing about inactivity thresholds too.

This is strange. Normally, a program can prevent going to standby
when it is active. However, there may be a "critical" power
conditions, then Windows ignores application request.

There is utility, sleeper.exe, in Windows DDK. It allows to see standby
requests and abort them.
Once I used it to debug issues on my machine.

Sorry, don't know where to get it outside of the DDK.
Google shows other downloads with same name, but these are different.

To prevent going to standby, check 2 checkboxes at left side
(Veto...)

Check with manufacturer to determine whether or not there is an update for
your BIOS.
Post what your power settings are in your BIOS.
