I have an Iomega 40MB external USB 2.0 hard drive. I have it plugged into a
USB 1 port. The drive never enters low-power mode (e.g. spin down mode), it
just sits there spinning all the time even when the system enters standby
mode. Is this a function of the Iomega drive or are all external USB hard
drives perpetually on? I'm power usage conscious, so I would prefer to have
an external hard drive that would obey the WinXP OS and enter power-saving
mode when required.
