How to play DiVx movies on DVD player

Greetings:
I have some movies in my PC and are in the DiVx format.
Now I'd like to play them in my DVD. I already burnt one
movie in the original DiVx format and tried to play it in
my DVD. It gave me the message "wrong disc".
How can I play my movies on my DVD?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
JC

You need to convert the divx movie, which is an avi file, to mpeg2 format
using the freeware TMPGEnc. Then use your DVD burning software to burn a
DVD from that file. It sounds like you must have burned a "data disc" of
the avi file instead. If you don't have a DVD burner, you'll need to create
a VCD instead, which is a movie format for CD-R discs which most newer DVD
players can display. This involves using TMPGEnc to convert the avi to
mpeg1 format first.
