A colleague is giving a presentation using PPt Viewer (he doesn't have
PowerPoint) and may want to break away during the presentation to show
another document or application. Is there a way of minimising the viewer so
that it retains the place in the show but allows access to the desktop?

Windows allows you to have the "Desktop" toolbar button in its taskbar. This
"Desktop" toolbar has all the items that are on the desktop. You might want
to try to use that.

To show the "Desktop" toolbar:
1. Right-click on Windows taskbar.
2. Select "Toolbars" | "Desktop".

The Desktop toolbar should now be visible. When in slide show, press the
"Win" key to bring up the taskbar (and also the Start menu but forget the
Start menu for the moment as we are more interested in the Desktop toolbar
that also becomes accessible). Use the items from the Desktop toolbar.

Would this work for you?
