How to make Word 2007 as the default word processor

When I tried to open a word document as an email attachment, it always opens
in Microsoft Works. I have just installed Office Home & Student 2007. I
tried following the instructions on the 2 posts below but not lucky. I have
read that I need to re-register, but how do you register with the Vista?
Instruction is only for Windows XP.

In Windows Explorer, right click on a Word document (.doc and .docx) and
select the Open With item.

Note, you should be wary about opening attachments directly from email
messages and should really save the attachments first.

Hope this helps.

Reregistering works the same for any version of Word/Windows; that article
just hasn't been updated recently. I believe you still have a Run command
behind the (unlabeled) Start button in Vista?

Instead of a line conveniently at the bottom of the Start menu (where
they've placed the utterly useless "Search" instead, which searches
not your computer but the internet), it's the last option on the right-
hand list of operations.

Thanks Suzanne for your reply but it didn't work. It reconfigure Office 2007
but didn't do anything after that. Still when I tried to open a word doc
attached to an email, it still opens with Microsoft Works. I also tried to
Associate a file type but it dont work too.
