How to make objects disappear?

I know how to make objects appear (fly-in, spiral, crawl, etc.) on
PowerPoint 2000 slides, however I would like the objects to
*disappear* later either automatically after a set number of seconds
or on a mouse click.

Advise please. Thanks.

There are no Exit-Animations in PPT 2000, they are only available in PPT
2002 and 2003. But you can fake the effect, if you cover your object with a
shape (e.g. rectangle) in background color and make it appear after your
object.
