How to make NPV function work in reports

The NPV function is not recognized when assigned to a field in a report or in
the underlying query. The control source looks like:

=NPV(0.1,[txtCash2006],[txtCash2007],[txtCash2008],[txtCash2009])+[txtCash2005]

What am I doing wrong?
