How to link to the backend - 2007

I just tried access 2007 for the first time, and is run
into a problem. My database is divided into a backend and frontend,
but are not linked together yet. To create a link to the tables
in 2003 was easy, but I simply can not find the feature
in 2007.

I have started both my front and backend, and expect that it
is under the tab Database Tools - Linked table manager, I
need to go. But this feature is gray, so I can not start it.

Do I look in the wrong place?

Check if your frontend is an MDB or ACCDB. The compiled versions don't
have access to the Linked Table Manager.

Ribbon > External Data tab > Access > Link to the data source...

Linked table manager is probably grayed out because you don't have any
linked tables yet.
