how to link to sql server db

I want to see the linked tables on a sql server db. How do I link an
access db to sql server on the network? I open get external data then in the
file name I put in the domain name server and click link? Does it have to be
just the domain name in that box or the full network connection or the IP
address? So I can see the linked tables without a password?
