There was, in previous versions of Windows/PPT, a problem with administrator
rights not allowing users to de-activate the screen saver during a slide
show. This was a problem at the time, but sounds like what you are trying
to achieve. You may want to investigate that avenue for your version of PPT
and your version of Windows.
I do not think this is generally a settable windows/ppt function.
I understand it was a setting that was fired on slide show to ensure the
screen saver didn't interfere with a slide show while it was running. I just
tested it (windows 7 and PPT 2007) and the screen saver stays off while
PowerPoint is in slide show mode. If you needed to artificially it, you
could use a hyperlink to the file, such as C:\Windows\System32\Ribbons.scr
