how to keep on top of the complexity of a database?

How do the gurus work with adding new forms, queries, tablefields to an
existing database and make sure that every combo, listbox, caption is changed
to reflect the new functionality of the database.
Is there a way of drawing a diagram of the forms, queries, combos to show
which ones are linked or depend on each other so that the appropriate changes
can be made, without missing any?
My tracks database has become very complex with many forms and queries being
interdependent. It looks as though additional functionality will be asked for
over time (as users realise the possibilities). I am already having
difficulty keeping track of which objects need to be changed if only one
change is made somewhere.
