How to invoke file/MIME

When attempting to download some information from a secure banking site
(https) the results are displayed on my screen rather than having a file
created for download. A message on the site says that I need to change the
file/MIME settings. Can't seem to find anything about how to do that.

All reasonable suggestions are appreciated.

I posted this on 7/26 and haven't gotten a response. Is there anyone from
Microsoft out there who could give this a shot? Would really like to get
this sorted out.

Thanks,

You didn't mention what file type.
What file type do you have the problem with?
Why can't you right-click and select "Save Target as"?

In the meantime, look at this standard response (MIME may or may not
be relevant)

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

Alan,
First, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if the filetype is the issue
because of the following:
1. I select the account that I want to download and click a Download button.
Another page appears with a list of 7 or 8 different formats that they
support including .csv, MS Money, 2 different quicken formats, et al.
2. At the bottom of the same page the following message is displayed even
before a file type has been selected.

"NOTE: When you click on 'Download', your browser may display the
information directly on the browser instead of prompting you to Save/Open the
file. This means that your browser is not setup to understand the 'File/MIME
Type' of the file you are trying to download. To resolve this issue, follow
the steps provided by your operating system vendor."

2. I tried selecting several different file types for download (2 quicken &
..csv) and each attempt created a display of characters down the left side of
the screen.
