How to install the VGA driver

N

nate

I need to reinstall my nvidia drivers. Probably several times. I
started the reinstall and I get prompted for a location to a VGA
driver for use with the monitor/adpater. I put in the Windows XP setup
CD and it can't find a VGA driver anyplace on it.

there is an i386 directory. Is there a compressed file that i need to
extract?

The video was working, so I went ahead and resintalled the nvidia
drivers. skipping the VGA setup part. But the app does not work.

Someone told me that i probably need to find a 3rd party driver
cleanup program to get the system clean now. Would anyone know of a
URL for that software? thanks

The system should just install the VGA drivers if you delete the nVidia
drivers. Go to Control Panel, go to the System applet, go to the Hardware
tab, click Device Manager, go to Display Adapter, click the plus sign,
select your adapter, right click, select properties and click uninstall.

If the system simply reinstalls the nVidia drivers, try doing the above in
Safe Mode. Boot the system, start tapping F8, when the menu appears, select
Safe Mode, press enter and follow the above steps, then install the nVidia
drivers from there.
