tried to do spell check, however message came up saying "Cannot find proofing
tools for English (Australia).

In START/PRograms/Microsoft Office/Microsoft Office Tools there should be an
entry for Language Settings. What languages appear in the "Enabled" list? If
Australian English isn't there (probably English (Aus)) and if you want to use
that language, find it in the long list and add it to the Enabled list.
If you don't want Australian English, Ctrl+A to mark the text, then choose the
language you want from Tools/Language/Set language.
