How to Install Equation Editor into Microsoft PowerPoint.?

I want to do an equation in a PPT presentation. The instructions say to use
the equation editor, and to install it, in the View menu, I should point to
Toolbars, and then click on the command tab. All of this I can do. But then
I am supposed to find "Equation Editor" in the command pane, and on my
system, it just is not there. PPT help does not give any further suggestions.
Help!

Equation Editor doesn't need to be installed into Powerpoint, it just needs
to be installed from the Office CD, and it will be available for use in
Office applications such as Word and Powerpoint. Can you click on Insert |
Object | Microsoft Equation 3.0? If not, then close all open applications,
insert your Office CD, click on Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs |
Microsoft Office | Change | Add/Remove Features | expand "Office Tools" |
click on the little black downward-point triangle to the left of Equation
Editor | click on "Run all from my computer" | Update.
