How to install 2K on an external USB hard drive

I would like to install 2K on an external USB hard drive. The external hard
drive is accessable from both DOS and the system's "normal" 2K installation.
How can I do this without it messing with the system already installed on
the internal hard drive...I don't see an option to install on the external
drive letter when I get into the installation options - is there any way to
force the installation program to use the external drive?

thanks for any feedback.

Never tried this although I've got an external USB hard disk, too. But the OS install seems to know that the disk is NOT 'local' (means always connected) and therefore will not use it as a possible disk for install.

Does this help?

Interesting...the drive was given the name "LOCALDISK" by the OS...guess it doen't mean what it sounds like.

I bet the install code doesn't have a USB driver installed at that point of the installation. Now, you can load another disk driver at this point, I think by pressing F6 or something. But whether it would accept a UBS driver, I've never tried.

If you're brave, it'd be worth a beer to find out.
