How to insert text into form field without using default text?

Hi,

I'm inserting fields that are to be bookmarked (to be populated by another
program). There is text that is supposed to show up when protected in the
form field. I tried using the default text but I have too much text.

Is there a way to have the text show up in a form field shaded area without
it being part of default text?

Any help is appreciated!

If the fields are to be populated from another program, what's the text for?

If you are just gathering text to put into another application then I
suspect you might do better with UserForms
Word MVP FAQ - Userforms http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Userforms.htm
If the default text is for instructions then see instead -

Greg has a number of tips that you may find useful - see
