How to insert multiple page word document into word 2007?

I am trying to insert an exisitng several page word document into a new word
document. Following the standard steps of insert object, select file, as
linked document... It inserts it in a table format only showing the first
apge of text of the document I want to insert. Is there a way round this?
 
You'd insert it as a linked document only if you need it to
automatically update when you change the inserted document.

Otherwise, I've never had a problem inserting a document of any length
as "text file."
 
An inserted object cannot span multiple pages in Word. Instead, you can use
copy and paste. If you click Home tab | Paste | Paste Special you can choose
to paste as a link (inserts a LINK field).

Alternatively, use Insert tab | Object | Text from File. Locate and select
the file you want to insert. If you want to link the contents of the
inserted file, click the arrow next to the Insert button, and then click
Insert as Link. Word inserts an INCLUDETEXT field, which you can update with
F9.

Then what am I doing when I Insert > Object > Text from File and have
no problem with the length of the inserted text?
 
If you insert via the Insert File dialog box, or by inserting an INCLUDETEXT
field manually, there should be no problem.

On the other hand, if you insert an object, via the Object dialog box, it
won't span pages; instead, it will behave as a wrapped object or as a
(large) text character, depending on the placement option chosen.

indistinguishable results). Has Insert > File indeed been hidden

I think what you found *is* Insert | File. Stefan's reply about objects is
correct when they're actually objects, but "text from file" isn't really an
object in the sense of an OLE object. I find this new dialog structure
especially confusing for that reason if for no other.
