How to insert background colour in specific areas

I want to insert background colour but only in certain area of my calander?

Is this a calendar created with the calendar wizard?
Then the end result is a table, so you can select cells, columns, rows and
apply a different shading. You can use the borders and tables toolbar and
the fill color button to apply shading or use the menu.
