Dear Sir/Madam

1. I have IBM Netfinity 3000 series server with windows
2000 server installed. My Primary partition has only 1 GB
space. After installation of other application softwares
llke sql, office now only 0.23MB space is left. In other
partions I have lot of space.

2. Now I am unable to open any applications like my
outlook express,sql,Microfoft word.....

3.I have removed all temp file from my 'c' drive and also
tried to uninstall the application softwares like office
from 'c' drive but failed ..because I think it needs more
space on 'c' for uninstallation.

3.Please help me how to come out of this problem basically
i need to increase my primary partion without losing data.

Hoping for the earliest reply.

Thanking You

Partition Magic from PowerQuest.

And even 2GB will be too small, as I have found out :-(. Make the W2K
partition 4-5GB in size.

Yep, you're right there. 5GB seems to work best for me.

Makes one wonder. Why, after all this time, does so much software depend on
installing itself in %SystemRoot%?

Programmers that use MS's developer kits which in turn "automate" a lot of
programming tasks, and put the program's *.dlls in %SystemRoot% by default. A
lot of MS's defaults are, er, strange, to put it as politely as possible.

Partition Magic ?? Let's see, Windows 2000 Server edition costs ...
$800??
Is that right?
Ouch!

So W2K is a defective product.

So what else is new? a) it's software; b) it's made by MS. That's a double
whammy.

It works well enough most of the time, which all you can expect from software
these days.

Do not worry about this problem, you can shrink other partitions and expand the OS partition with the unallocated space. There are many SW that can do this, I just used easeus partition master to solve the problem, it is cost-effective and can do the same thing comparing with other SW.
To me, it is very safe to resize the partition and completed very fast, you can also copy the partition or disk to pertect the data, BTW, there is detail instructions http://www.partition-tool.com/easeus-partition-manager/extend-system-partition.htm
