I am trying to import data from excel into access and the problem i have is
that access has the fields going across the page in the datasheet view of a
table layout whereas in my spreadsheet the data that i want to use is laid
out in such a way that the fields would be down the page. I have tried the
option of the first row contains column headings but that doesn't do me any
good. Have i explained myself in such a way that anybody knows what i am
talking about and if so is there a way i can do what i want to do. Thanks in
advance to anybody who can help

Hey Blondie.

See if this works:

In excel, copy the range you wish then, in a new sheet, click "Edit"
then "Paste Special.." then click "Transpose" then hit OK.

This should put your data round the right way with the field names
along the top.

Cheers - David

what you suggested works, i am going to fiddle a bit and see if i can find a
transpose feature in access so that i can transpose the layout of the fields
in access rather than change the layout in excel as there are 34 fields that
i am working with and it makes it easier to look at on one page if that
makes sense
