I have an old laptop with Windows XP and Outlook Express. How do I get my
old
emails and contacts to a new computer with Vista and Windows mail?

Copy the files to a previously empty directory on the hard drive of your
Vista
computer. A directory you create under your Documents directory is a good
choice. Bring along the .wab file, which contains your old contacts. Make
sure the copied files are all read-write, instead of readonly, before you
tell
Windows Mail to import the entire directory containing them.
If this does not import your old contacts, start Windows Mail, then click
Tools, then Windows Contacts, then Import, then Windows Address Book
File (Outlook Express contacts), then Import, then find the .wab file and
click on it, then Close, then close the contacts window.
