How to Import DocProperties from Template to Files?

I would like to establish some personalized Document Property variables
in a template and then propagate these to all the files based on that
template.

After that, I would like to replace certain character strings in the
files associated to the template by a DocProperty field. I see the
search function allows to search for a given field type, but not to
replace text with a field.

Here's an example of the process.

Let's say that in the template, I create a personalized Document
Property variable called adm which has as its value "Administration
Console".

In all documents based on the template, I would like to be able to
search for the string "Administration Interface" and replace with the
insertion of a field {DOCPROPERTY "adm" \* MERGEFORMAT}. In the text,
this should be visible as "Administration Console". If at a later date
that value changes in the template, I'd like it to be updateable in all
the other documents as well.

Can that be done? Or am I better off just search-replacing hard-coded
text?

Many thanks for your opinions.

You can do a batch Find and Replace as detailed at
http://www.gmayor.com/batch_replace.htm, but in this instance I'm not sure a
DocProperty field is your best choice. A better option might be an AutoText
field (which can be updated if the AutoText entry is modified) or an
IncludeText field linking to an external document or bookmarked text in an
external document.
