how to import a contact folder to a new device?

After furious head scratching, Drew asked:

How about syncing the NOkia with Outlook, possibly setting up a special
contacts folder if you want only a subset, and then syncing ht Touch with
that same folder. NOkia gives you its own software adn the Touch uses
Activesync. I'm pretty sure this will work, having used both bits
separately.
