How to I use "find and replace" to replace *

How can I use the find and replace dialog to replace '*'s in my data?

If I try to use '*', it treats it as a wildcard. I tried \* but that
didn't work.
 
Try placing the star in square brackets.

That did it.

I'm sure I tried that before but must have forgotten to apply the
'any part of field' match as I could get it to work last time.

All working now though.
