How to have both Chinese XP and English XP

T

Toby

I brought a laptop that comes with English XP home. In
order to play Chinese PC game, I need the chinese version
of XP. I tried, but it only replace the English one
instead of having both for me to choose. Does anyone has
experience on this?

Hi,

When the installer starts, point it to a different partition or hard driver
(change C:\Windows as the install point to D:\Windows) - you can't install
both to the same volume. Obviously, this means you need to have at least two
partitions to work from.

Of course with the caveat that you're "supposed" to have two licenses.

You do not need a second lic to dual boot. Of course if you have XP in 2
languages each would have to have it's own lic.

You'd have two licenses if you puchased one english and one chinese language
version of WinXP.

You may not need separate Chinese installation. You only need to change
language settings of your English XP to use Chinese character set for
non-UNICODE programs. Open Control Panel->Regional and Language
Options->Advanced->Language for non-UNICODE programs. You may be prompted
for the XP CD, to install the fonts.
