How to go from Media Center to Professional?

Is there a way to go back to Professional if you have Media Center? I tried with an Upgrade Version of Professional but it did not work, would it work if I have the full version?

I need XP Professional due to a video editing software requirement to run.

And on another issue. Would there be any danger in the start up if I remove hotfix 824141 from XP Media Center? I think that could solve my problem but I don't want to try it if I could screw up my system. My software has problems running with that particular hotfix.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Windows Media Center is a "superset" of Windows XP Professional,
meaning it has all the features of XP Pro. If you are having issues with
Hotfix 824141, uninstall that particular Hotfix.

The only way to install XP Pro is to reformat the hard drive and install
XP Pro "clean".

Ok, thanks, I just wanted to make sure that with the removal of hotfix kb824141 there wouldn't be any trouble with windows xp Media Center (since it comes with the program from factory).

I'll try removing it and hope there aren't any issues.

Thanks again

Please Help, I can't remove Hotfix kb824141. As I do it with add and remove programs a warning appears telling me that it can't repair a file. I try anyway and Windows can't restart. I have to recover the system.

Since WinXP Media Center Edition is a _superset_ (iow, it does
_everything_ WinXP Pro can do, plus contains additional features) of
WinXP Pro, replacing it with the regular WinXP Pro is actually a
"downgrade." No OS that I've ever heard of supports downgrades, so
your only option would be format the hard drive and perform a clean
installation. You can do this if you wish, but all you'll really
accomplish is voiding the laptop's warranty -- and for no good reason.
There's not a thing that WinXP Pro can do that WinXP MCE cannot also
do, including networking.
