Paid 60$ for so i went to the home page and downloaded a 15 day Trail Version
(7.0) my CD I have is 6.3, a day latter found my orginal software, installed
it(did an unistall of the Trail Version 7.0( but did not choose to delete all
the many shared .dll files for was told never to do that!,but now eve when i
go to the "Help/About file it shows my version Product as 6.3, but says it
is an unregistered version! Boy unless someone can help (wrote CDH 10 emails
for support they won't answer I am going to have to pay another 60$ for this
thing any help will be Greatly Appreiated..went into Windows Explorer and
tried to find some "trial File i could delete but honestly don't know what i
am lookimg for :) Thanks All

Hi,
the possible solution for should be to make a system restore to date
before installing that software and after restoring you system then u
should freely install your version and should work.

Go to Control Panel/add&remove
from there uninstall the program....if it shows both version uninstall both
then go to start/run......type in "regedit"
use the search function and type in the name of the program....let regedit
find all instances and delete those instances
reboot
Install your licensed version

Peter:
Thanks for The quick reply...did what you said, removed the program from
"Add Remove Software" it removed it, went to regedit typed in both "image
Explorer Pro" & "Cdh" and deleted all i could some regristry items would not
delete? but instead just reset the string to "no value"...oh made a system
restore point just in case i Fudged up:)...installed the software but as i
was doing so it asked me did I want to inatall in the C..."programs...image
explorer folder" and i was "shocked"...i just deleted the program and
regedit it so why is there still a folder?...went into windows explorer b4
install n sure enough folder and sub folders were still there...did the
install... and even though it is an older vrsion than the trial i
downloaded...it still is a trial...strange thinh is i had only 10 days left
on the trial b4 now it is back to 15?? any other suggestions...can't do a
Restore point as was suggested (thank You!)...because i have downloaded other
software from the net since then and don't want to loose that...thanks in
advance to any and all who may help...this has become now just not a matter
of "money"...but "the "princple" of some of these "software giants" ...:)

Thanks...but can't do that as i have downloded and purchased oyher software
since that point ...:(

Perhaps you need to get the CD's for this "software" you purchase. With
out install media, that software install is living on borrowed time.

while that statement is indeed both "true and wise" , it speaks little of the
current ptoblem I am having... for I DO have the Orginal CD purchased and
paid for!...so having the original or backup cd...seems irrelvant to this
issue ,as i have it , installed it, and am still in a "trial Period" version
due to some registry key value the trial download installed that i am to dumb
to find...but thanks 4 your advice anyway

Unfortunately, the combination of your using a signature delimiter, and
not bottom posting, results in the removal of all the prior response.
At this point I would say you need to contact the vendor who sent the
e-mail and cd and get the code re-sent.

wow...as i don't know what you mean re: bottom posting and the other thing
about ?email eliminator...except to say i read the misrosofts advice about
choosing them to create an return email 4 me as to avoid "spammers"...didn't
intend to break any rules or hurt anyones feelings...i am just an old retired
Vietnan Era retired Marine trying 2 supplment my pension by selling on E-Bay
and need this proram...feel the right to have it for i jave paid for it two
times b4,because i was stupid and didn't pay the extra 10$ for the CD...and
by the way i have sent over 12 emails to the vendor now ...with no response...

I really feel for you MurF, but the issue here, is that there isn't
something wrong with your Windows XP installation that can "fix" your
problem. This group tries to provide answers that will solve problems
that users are having with their Windows operating system. Perhaps you
can discover where the vendor does business, and file a complaint with
the Better Business Bureau there.

Bob ..I agree and will let it drop and refrain henceforth from posting "non
XP" issues to the group...appreciate the anyway...

Hi Murf

Usually "trial" versions get converted into full versions by you adding
your licence code. Does your original CD have a licence or serial number
on it, or printed on the case, or on a slip with it? If you open up the
program on your PC and have a look through the menus, is there a
"Register" option or anything along the lines of Add (or change) Serial
Number?

Hi,
the possible solution for should be to make a system restore to date
before installing that software and after restoring you system then u
should freely install your version and should work.

System restores won't do shit for software you install, unless it
affects the OS. Rolling back to a restore date prior to when this
occured likely will change NOTHING, although I do admit a very very
very slight chance that it maybe might work.

Do you have a serial number or key number that came with the original CD?
If so you need to enter that number in the place in the program that accepts
it. Normally if you click on the Program's Help there will be a Register
item there. Click on it and type in the registration key for the software
you purchased.

Many companies sell programs that are time limited (called shareware) that
require you to purchase a key. Apparently this is the type of program you
have. It needs to be registered.

I have no solution, just empathy.
This exact same situation arose when I bought an
antivirus program some years ago.
I never had a reply from the distributor or the
producer.

Nightowl: thanks for your response,no i dont have a "unlock Key" for the cd i
have and if i remember right when i installed the program because it was the
full program, it never "nagged" you with a trial prompt...if i open it now go
to help, and abot it gives me the old version number of the software installed
6.3> the new Trial one I downloaded is 7.0,so even though i have installed
my original softeare if i go to purchase under the help menu,it asks for my
registration key...in the "conditions of terms" that you must accept b4
registering the software it (the Company)states you can run this software on
more than one computer as long as you own them ...and it also says that if
the software was installed on a computer that is now not usable ...to contact
the company for a new "unlock key", which i have been doing now (14
emails...in 7 days) with no response from the vendor...wonder if i can put
the CD in go to "explore" the cd and find anything out?? god i am grasping at
straws here...:)...sorry to anyone if i am keeping this thread alive ,but i
am simply being civil to those who took the time and effort to try and help
this "old Soilder"...Peace!

Hi
I feel that maybe you missed a few registry entries..........and after the
Control Panel/add&remove did you reboot??
If you have uninstalled the program and there is still a directory and
folder left makes me think that you have only uninstalled one of the 2
instances of install.
It can happen that one install overwrote the uninstall of the previous...
When I have run across instances like this I have had to search the registry
numerous times using the name of the program as well as the manufact.name.
I have had to delete the whole registry chain under the Co. name....it can
be quite time consuming
There is a program out there called CCleaner...that is used to clean crap of
the computer as well as the registry.
I am a firm believer in getting what I paid and will spend whatever time is
necesary to achieve that...it bugs me to no end.
BUT...at the same time I would be looking for a replacement program ..their
customer service apparently sucks...their programming seems to suck as well.
Could you give us the full name and manufacturer of this program..??
peter

Hi MurF

Oh dear, perhaps as you bought a CD originally it came already unlocked.

Give them a few more days -- I know it's frustrating when you're running
out of time, but from looking at the website it does seem to be a small
company, maybe just a one-man outfit? It is possible that the
author/vendor has been out of town for a week.

If you still haven't heard back from him/them in a couple of days, we'll
have to try removing all traces of the program, first with an uninstall,
then by deleting all references to it in the registry. Don't apologise
for "keeping the thread alive", that's what the newsgroup is for :-)
