How to get rid of shockwave updater icon?

Jackson

The icon appeared over next to the time display and I can't
determine how to get rid of it. I removed it from the start
up list but when I later rebooted it had returned. The icon
does not respond to either a left or right mouse click.

I don't want to remove shockwave, I just want to declutter
the desktop.

Win XP (media center edition)

See if one of these helps. I must say that I've never heard of an
Adobe Shockwave updater program, sounds like a virus.

Shockwave Flash Shocker

Or

Using Task Manager (Right-click Taskbar or press all at once:
CTRL + ALT + DEL) click the Processes tab, select
PostUpdater.exe and End Process.

Then delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 1\PostUpdater.exe

Check these Registry keys for PostUpdater.exe and delete:

Start/Run regedit32.exe

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I had that with the last update but it disappeared after I installed-verified
installation.
Maybe a webpage that needed the update set it off.
Try this:
