& where might that newsgroup be?.. it is nearly impossible to get messenger
support

About which Messenger are you asking? If you access these newsgroups through
NNTP (using msnews.microsoft.com as the server), there are newsgroups for
microsoft.public.mac.messenger & microsoft.public.messenger.mac. There's
also microsoft.public.msn.messenger, microsoft.public.windows.live.messenger
and microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger.
If you can't find them through the abyssmal Microsoft web interface, try
going through http://groups.google.com
