How to get into safe mode: Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA?

??? I attempted to start it in safe mode, but could not seem to
find the magic key for that.

Tap repeatedly on the F8 key while booting until the menu appears.

Or (alternately) hold down the control or alt key while booting.
One or the other often works on different systems.
