How to get information after error

G

Guest

I've Outlook 2000 and by some problem I don't know it didn't open Outlook
today and give me the information that there was an error on file and
couldn't open so asked me if I want to set a new one or open a previous
archive. As all my saved archived were very old I said I wanted a new one.
I've a new one with all the mail accounts, I received all my e-mails but I
lost all my e-mails that were on folder Inbox and Sent Items as well as all
my calendar and contacts. So, how can I get all this information to this new
account? What file should I import? And if it doesn't open?
Thanks in advance.

Search for *.pst files on your pc, to include hidden
Note the path and names.
What sizes are these pst's?

NEVER import from a PST. You will lose data and you may damage your mail
profile. See this:

And if it doesn't open?

Depends on the reason it won't open, which you didn't post. The Inbox
Repair Tool (SCANPST.EXE) may be able to help or you may have exceeded the
size an Outlook 2000 PST is allow to reach. You'll have to tell us what the
problem is.

The first thing would be to create a new PST so you're not working with one
that's so large.

Thanks Brian,

But I've a new one and I receive but not send. Also, I've done what you said
and I create a new PST although it kept the old one (outlook today) which I
couldn't erase. It copied contacts, agenda and sent items to the new one but
items to send are going to the old one. Is that clear??

You haven't made the new PST your delivery location. If you're using OL
2000 in IMO mode, right-click the new PST, choose Properties, and check the
box labeled "Deliver POP mail to this Personal Folders File". Stop and
restart Outlook.
