How to get "classic" wordart in powerpoint 2007? size, reverse, sh

Powerpoint 2007 seems to have come up with a new version of wordart, but
eliminated the old versions capabilites, which I like and want to ese. Word
2007 still has the older "classic" word art (thank goodness). S0 how do i get
that back in Powerpoint 2007?

Examples of things i need to do incude the ability to size wordart, to
reverse image it, and i believe there were many more shape options.

I am sure i will enjoy the new capabilites once I learn them, but don't take
away the old ones!

I don't think there's a way to get the old WordArt back.

Basically, WordArt features can now apply to any text in PowerPoint. So, to
size the WordArt, just increase the font size.

To mirror, use Rotate, flip horizontal (on Drawing Tools Format tab |
Arrange group).

Put the text on a shape by selecting Drawing Tools Format (WordArt Styles
group) | Text Effects | Transform. Then you can use the pink diamond to
adjust the shape. (It works similarly to the yellow diamond that shows up
and allows adjustment on many autoshapes.)

You can also fill the new WordArt text with images or gradients or
whatever -- just use the Word Art Text Fill button dropdown on the Drawing
Tools Format ribbon | WordArt Styles group and select Picture (or gradient
or texture). Same with applying an outline to the text. Just choose the Text
Outline tool.

Good answer. Thebig thing about word art was you could make a word "fit" by
changing its aspect ratio (h:w) changing the font doesn;t make this happen :(

Hm. You can drag the corner of the textbox after you've applied one of the
transforms. But yeah, that doesn't work on all text. Just the ones with
transforms. I guess we had to give up some features in order to get so many
others. (I have to say I like the new stuff way better -- but I can see why
you'd miss sizing by dragging.)

You can also copy and Home | Paste Special as a picture so you can size by
dragging -- but then the text is not editable.

ok Echo, here is the story. open a text box and print what you want like
"ratfink". Now go to Format, Drawing Tools, pick Text effects in WordArt
Styles. Now pick Transform, then Warp. Pick the FIRST warp, the one that is
top left. You will see what you typed transform to fill out the size of the
box it is in. Now you can color the text, the lines, the box, the line aound
the box . . . . NOW, grab a corner and stretch or pull and you can change the
aspect ratio as you please. NOw, pull one side over, farther, so that the
image flips. Now it is reversed.

Now, here is where it gets funky, if you want. You can pick individual
letters and change their color, their font, their size . . . THAT is new.
and cool too.
..
Tada.

ALso, if search Help for the "Powerpoint Ribbon Mapping Workbook" that shows
what it was in PP 2003, and "where it is now" for 2007.

I'll write you at your site to tell you about my Echo

So it sounds as if you're able to get the look you want using the new
WordArt now. That's great.
