How to format new H/D for NTFS?

The last time I did this was when I was installing
Win2k so I just used the WIN2k CD and it took it
from there. This time I just want to format the
whole hog 120 gig to NTFS and blank to be used
as a massive D: storage drive. I don't want
the rigamaroe of going through installation
and all - isn't there a way to do a NTFS
partition (the whole bang) and format for
a new h/d from the win2k desktop??????
I didn't see any program or system tool
anywhere that I could use - maybe I am
just to blind or dumb to see it - show
me someone?

Can you see the drive in Disk Management (Computer Management console)?

Yes, I see it now - it was late last night
and I didn't realize I needed to right click.

Anyway, I went ahead and did the boot CD thing,
and right after it partitioned and formatted
to NTFS, it started copying install files
before I could stop it. After I delected
all I could, I am left with only one
folder (SYTEM VOLUME INFORMATION), which
takes up an amazing 70 megabytes, and
nothing I can do will make it go away.
I guess I am just stuck with that - right?

Of course, 70 mb out of 120 g is only
small change, but, it just irks me
that I couldn't start out with a
completly blank slate.

Thanks,

Littleberry
