how to float win xp pro taskbar?

?

.

Is there any way that I can float the taskbar on windows xp? I want
to make it any width/height I want and place it anywhere on the
desktop. I can only place it on the edges of the desktop and can't
float it. Is there any software that can replace the taskbar with
something more flexible?

Try this:

#1. Just right click task bar and with popup menu,
you can uncheck "lock task bar"( ** I am not sure what is the correct word
for this
in English, but I believe that you can find for yourself.)
I am not using English version of WindowsXP, sorry.)

#2. If you move mouse pointer on the edge of the taskbar,
then pointer changes to double arrow, then click and drag it to center upper
or lower.

#3. You can drag and drop a taskbar wherever you like,
right, left, upper, lower of the screen.

#4. If you would like to lock the taskbar, then it is apparent what you should
do.
( See Item #1) Tick "lock taskbar" property.)

Remarks: Again I am using different Language Version of Windows,
so I do not necessary use correct English-MS-Terminology or Word, sorry.

Thanks for the explanation, but that's not exactly what I want.

I want to adjust the width also, not just the height. I guess this is impossible.

Bump this out of the dead. I have a large monitor and having and entire boarder consumed by the taskbar is pretty bad for me as well. I've tried alernative taskbars, some of which float, but I really like the windows 7 taskbar. I would like to be able to put the taskbar in any width height configuration, and make it appear when the windows key is pushed. suppose, I want the start menu to come up in a block in the middle of the screen.

Posting here, because I am looking for a floating task bar too. I did find one program I use to replace the Start Menu. It's called Appetizer. It's about 3.5 inches high by 3/4" wide. The best thing is it can be moved anywhere, but also there is a pop out menu like start menu and start groups can be created to start multiple apps at one time. Also can include folders and files in this, and they can be pinned too.

This is a very solid app, and I was a little bit surprised to find it after looking for so long. Almost forgot. It's small enough to set it to stay on top always. Doesn't get in the way of full screen video or other apps...

Really would like to find something similar that gives access to all the features of the task bar but this is a good start. Combine this with Start Killer to get rid of the start button and the combination is much better than before for my purposes.

Can't post a link yet. Google Appetizer for the developer's site.

Don't forget to check out those skins. Love the skins...
