How to fix the problems with the file operating?

Hi,guys.
My OS of windows xp has a problem. I can not rename, delete any files which
contain sub-files on the disk (even the favorite files on IE). When I right
clicked the files, the OS was shown that it was too busy to response and the
operating could not carry on. Neither could the menu on the right be
displayed. I could only force the OS to shut up or end up the task
eventually. It is odd that I can delete/rename/right click any files which
do NOT contain sub-files.

What is the matter with my OS? ( PS. Perhaps because I deleted some files
under DOS before, it caused the problem. I am not sure about it) and how to
fix it?
Please help me. Thank you in advanced.

Since we don't know what files you deleted - and why you thought this
would be a Good Idea - we can't guess what's wrong with your operating
system. Some things to try:

1. A System Restore to before you got busy.
2. If that doesn't work, Start>Run sfc.exe /scannow [enter] (you'll
probably need your XP cd handy).
3. If that doesn't work, try a Repair Install:

If you want more help, post back with more details about the original
problem and what you actually did.

I can't imagine how someone could delete files from cmd prompt and not
know it.

Sounds more like the context menu hang thing. I don't recall the fixes
but I bet you do.

Then I don't get it. Nothing new there. :)

It was a joke, Steve. I got it. Maybe it's a woman-thing. In any case,
the OP hasn't come back so the thread dies anyway.

Try the System Restore. If that doesn't work, take the machine to a good
local professional, not a BestBuy or CompUSA type of store. They will
be able to fix it.
